Inspired by the release of the fantastic tank-on-tank game What a Tanker by TooFatLardies I went on a bit of a tank buying splurge at Salute, and then picked up some second hand Shermans at Partizan. The Shermans were nicely painted – but as American tanks. So they needed a refurb and in the end I decide on a repaint. All models are by Warlord games with some bits and bobs of stowage from the Rubicon stowage pack. The crew figures that come with the Warlord models are pretty disappointing sculpts so I replaced them with the separate crew packs.
Although What A Tanker was the source of my buying spree I’ve actually bought tanks that I needed anyway for my Chain of Command forces which I’ve been meaning to get for a couple of years now
I am in two minds about whether to muddy them all up. The effect can look really good but I’m not sure I want to risk spoiling them after some weeks of effort!
Spectacular! Well done, Simon. I’ve got a pile of Pz III Ms, Pz IV Hs and StuG III Gs to paint. Thanks for the inspiration.
Your tanks look very splendid, Simon. You’ve certainly mastered the airbrush.
And I really like the way you’ve done the rust finishes.
I can understand your worry about dirtying them up……..I’d bottle it.

Tremendous work Goat Major, esp. the Tiger Tank !
I would leave the muddying, they are more than good enough for a game!
I am envious of your painting skills!
Great work Simon
Awesome! These are very impressive. Leave them clean, what if you mess up the mud and feel you have to start again! Argh!!
