The Princess of Wales’s Own – The Green Howards

This is an infantryman of the Green Howard’s. Part of the First Army Corps that mustered at York to resist the Russian invasion of 1895. The Corps would soon march North to head off the Russians before they could take Berwick.

The figure is from the Spencer Smith Little Britons 42mm toy soldier range. He will be part of a 12 figure battalion. All my Line Infantry battalions will 12 figures, with light units and cavalry squadrons having 6. I’ve based him on a 20x25mm base to make the figure more stable – base sizes won’t be important in the games.  All my figures for the campaign will be painted in this style – simple Britains style paint jobs, no shading, gloss varnish and plain green bases.

This is a lovely figure. I’ve some Spencer Smiths I just acquired, and hope to paint them as well as you’ve done with yours! As for the background…hmmm…I may have to do something more historical! Certainly as fun. Looking forward to the next batrep. I must have dozens of OHW posts, they have lots of potential if delicately balanced! For Coassacks, I suggest they fight d6-2 but have generous maneuver abilities and of course they can’t enter rough going.
